HOMEMADE KONG FILLERS
Did your pooch get a Kong for the holidays? Good dog!! There are many pre-made fillings to put inside of your Kong to keep your dog occupied, but how about some homemade stuffing treats without all the artificial flavorings and packed with a nutritional punch? WOOF!
Making your fillings at home has many benefits. You can verify the wholesomeness of the ingredients you are adding, you cut out all the chemical additives of the pre-made products, and you can give your dog a boost of probiotics when you add yoghurt or cottage cheese. Your pup will love these treats!
Yoghurt and Peanut Butter Crunch

1 cup crunchy peanut butter
2 tablespoons freeze-dried liver treats
Combine the yoghurt and peanut butter until they are mixed together well, then lightly fold in the freeze-dried liver treats. Fill the Kong and feed it either cool or frozen.
Cheesy Potato Delight

Use whole wheat bread and cheddar cheese to make the sandwiches, then cut them up into approximately 1-inch bite sized pieces. Combines the grilled cheese bites with the pumpkin and fill the Kong. Feed either warm or frozen.
1 cup plain yoghurt
1 small mashed banana
2 tablespoons blueberries
Fold the banana and blueberries into the yoghurt, then freeze and serve.
Delicious Pumpkin Pie
1 cup pure canned pumpkin puree

Your dog will be occupied for hours with his new Kong, and when all the slobbering is done, just pop it in the dishwasher!
This blog is brought to you by Under the Weather®, provider of freeze-dried bland diets for dogs. If your dog has a temporary bout of vomiting or diarrhea, your vet may recommend giving them a “bland diet” until their digestive systems return to normal. Until now, this required you to cook chicken and rice. With Under the Weather’s bland diets there is no more cooking – just add water!
Under the Weather is also an avid supporter of finding homes for shelter dogs. We finance the Ruffy Rescue Transport Fund to cover the transport cost of bringing dogs from overpopulated kill shelters to Vermont for adoption. A portion of every dollar in sales is channeled to supporting this cause as well as financing the spaying and neutering fees of shelter animals. Get to know more about Ruffy.
